The 25th anniversary celebrations of Lakmé Fashion Week x FDCI commenced on October 8, 2025, at The Grand in Vasant Kunj, New Delhi. Following a grand tribute held in Mumbai earlier this year, the event marks a landmark moment for India’s most celebrated fashion showcase.

Day 1 of the runway set a tone that beautifully balanced modernity with deep-rooted Indian traditions, featuring collections from leading labels Akaaro, Anavila, and The Edit.

Designer Anavila Misra presented her collection, Sarmast - a Persian word meaning ‘poetically intoxicated.’ Born from the Sufi concept of Wajd (spiritual stillness), the collection was an ode to the mystical beauty of the Deccan region.

It reflected quiet grandeur, translating into pieces that felt less like fashion and more like poetry in motion.

Designer Gaurav Jai Gupta’s label, Akaaro, opened the shows with his capsule collection, Starlight. The line was characterized by a bright pink palette showcased in relaxed, contemporary silhouettes.

The Edit reimagined the classic saree, successfully merging tradition with modern draping. Ensembles featured Chettinad-inspired weaves and temple borders, creating looks that felt both refreshing and deeply traditional.

The runway on Day 1 spoke heavily in textures and motifs, highlighting Kutch embroidery, ikat patterns, and pastel linens. Each look was clearly designed for the upcoming festive season, focusing on a sense of understated luxury.
