Trent Ltd has further intensified its footprint in the value-retail sector with the launch of its latest Zudio store in Gollapudi, Vijayawada. This opening is a part of a high-velocity regional expansion strategy aimed at capturing the burgeoning aspirational middle class in Andhra Pradesh's Tier-II hubs. The launch comes as Trent reports a robust 17 per cent Y-o-Y revenue growth for the quarter ending December 2025, reaching Rs 5,220 crore, driven primarily by Zudio’s aggressive rollout.
Capturing the ‘Value-Fashion’ Volume Play
The Gollapudi outlet follows Zudio’s established ‘super-fast fashion’ model, where inventory churn is significantly higher than industry averages. By maintaining a strict price ceiling - typically keeping 90 per cent of products under Rs 999 - Zudio has successfully insulated itself from the general moderation in discretionary spending affecting premium labels. In the October-December 2025 window alone, Trent added 48 Zudio stores, bringing the brand's total network to 854 locations. Analysts note that Zudio’s ability to achieve store-level breakeven faster than its peers is a critical competitive advantage in high-traffic suburban pockets like Gollapudi.
Strategic resilience and portfolio expansion
While the broader retail market faces headwinds from rising operational costs, Zudio’s Company-Owned, Company-Operated (COCO) model ensures tight control over the consumer experience and margins. The brand is now diversifying its revenue streams, with emerging categories like beauty and personal care contributing 21 per cent of total sales. This local launch in Vijayawada serves as a case study in ‘neighborhood-first’ retail, where proximity to residential clusters drives consistent weekday footfall, a strategy that helped Trent’s standalone net profit surge 36 per cent to Rs 640 crore in the latest fiscal update.
The value-fashion arm of Trent Limited (Tata Group), Zudio specializes in trendy, affordable apparel, footwear, and beauty across 274 cities. With a focus on high-volume Tier-II and III markets, the brand has achieved a $1 billion revenue milestone in FY25. Founded in 2016, Zudio is currently scaling toward a 1,000-store target while maintaining a debt-free, agile supply chain.
