India’s apparel manufacturing sector is consolidating its international market share as global sourcing hubs actively diversify ready-made garment (RMG) procurement. Unveiled at Yashobhoomi in New Delhi, the 74th India International Garment Fair (IIGF) brought together over 240 domestic manufacturers - predominantly high-capacity MSMEs - and more than 600 international buyers spanning 65 countries. With domestic RMG exports targeting $40 billion by 2030, events like IIGF serve as vital commercial conduits. The exhibition generated over $190 million in estimated business, reinforcing how integrated supply chains, standardized compliance, and specialized production hubs across 13 states are positioning Indian apparel as a primary alternative in global retail procurement.
Value-added and sustainable manufacturing drive international growth
The expansion of India's export footprint relies heavily on upgrading fabric processing, incorporating sustainable manufacturing practices, and leveraging free trade agreements. Buyers across North America, Europe, and Asia are prioritizing verified sourcing standards and design versatility. IIGF represents a gateway to accelerating exports while promoting market diversification and showcasing the global competitiveness of Indian apparel, highlights Dr A Sakthivel, Chairman, Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC).
Strengthening India’s global apparel export roadmap
Organized under the aegis of the Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC), IIGF serves as a global sourcing platform connecting international fashion buyers with Indian apparel exporters. Covering womenswear, menswear, knitwear, and accessories, it accelerates market access for domestic MSMEs. IIGF targets sustained export volume growth to strengthen India's $40 billion global apparel export roadmap.
