Indian innerwear brand Tailor and Circus have partnered with gender-neutral clothing brand Generation Mixx to launch underwear designed to be more inclusive for transgender and non-binary people.

The innerwear line features bottom-wear that is designed to cater to all genders. It’s not the perfect solution for all anatomies yet, but it’s a start. The idea behind this product and campaign is to get feedback from people and develop further.

Tailor and Circus’ new bottom wear line comes in bright hues and features pop-inspired prints. The innerwear features tailored flat seams which allow the adjustable pouch within to provide support to different body types as needed.

Tailor and Circus is a young Indian underwear brand that is redefining the experience for those who fall in between sizes. However, there are some challenges that make it hard to gauge what kind of underwear would work for a trans person without it being evaluated on a case-by-case basis, or at least within subsections of the trans community.

The word ‘trans’ at a product differentiation level is limiting and inaccurate because it doesn’t really say what kind of requirements one has in terms of aesthetic as well as form, function, and size.

Trent plans an accelerated store expansion program across Westside, Zudio, and Star Markets.

Trent currently has 200 Westside stores and 233 Zudio stores. Westside opened in 1998 and currently 100 per cent of sales in both Westside and Zudio are through private brands.

The company is seeing higher customer walk-ins and higher bill values as customers are coming back after a long gap. During the pandemic, Trent LTD realigned priorities and focused on future growth drivers of the business by aggressively signing properties during the two years.

As a result Trent opened 125 stores across all formats in fiscal ’22. Efficiencies are being driven in the supply chain to reduce the impact of inflation on customers. Trent believes in meeting the shopping needs of customers by being available both online and in-store. Trent continues to focus on in-house brands but is open to evaluating designer brands as and when any interesting opportunity presents itself.

The food retailing business under Star offers a curated assortment of products including FMCG, staples, hardlines, apparel and a comprehensive fresh offering. West Style Club has completed a year and added 1.4 million members in fiscal ’22 alone, with the total now at over seven million members.

US Polo Assn has opened five new exclusive stores in Bangalore. In all the American apparel retailer has 21 such stores in Bangalore.

US Polo Assn, a premium casualwear brand, is run in India by Arvind Fashions. US Polo Assn is the official brand of the United States Polo Association (USPA), the non-profit governing body for the sport of polo in the United States and one of the oldest sports governing bodies.

US Polo Assn offers apparel for men, women, and children as well as accessories and footwear. The brand is distributed worldwide through nearly 1200 US Polo Assn. retail stores, thousands of department stores, sporting goods channels, independent retailers, and e-commerce. The brand is expanding globally across 190 countries.

Levi’s and Deepika Padukone have collaborated in launching a streetwear collection.

The collection includes baggy pants, athleisure pieces, cropped fits, oversized T-shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, and oversized shirts. Deepika Padukone was named as brand ambassador in 2021 to strengthen the label's presence in the country.

Denim brand Levi’s entered India 25 years ago and enjoys significant popularity among Indian consumers. Levi’s plans to reduce 40 percent of greenhouse gas emissions in its supply chain by 2025. The denim giant has been applauded for setting a new standard on climate commitments in the apparel industry.

The announcement allows Levi’s to quickly reduce its carbon footprint in its entire supply chain, including its overseas factories, with adequate commitments that will help the company meet or beat the reduction standards laid out in the UN Paris Agreement on climate change. By reducing air pollution around its factories and helping slow climate change, this move from Levi’s will also literally save lives.

Levi's had previously pledged to reduce its emissions by 25 percent and use 20 percent renewable energy by 2020 — but those goals were for its direct operations only. Levi’s direct operations account for a mere one percent of its total climate pollution, with the remaining 99 percent of its climate pollution in its supply chain.

Dollar Industries always tries to maintain the EBITDA margin at 16 or 17 percent.

Big Boss is the flagship brand. The premium product now accounts for around 42 percent of Dollar’s total turnover and the economy range is around 58 percent. Until now, the company had a very limited presence in the women’s innerwear category.

But this year Dollar has already launched brassiere in the Missy segment and has also launched Kurtis. Some more products are lined up.

The garment and hosiery company has been able to align itself with its growth trajectory as it has witnessed a greater demand for its products in the market.

In October, Dollar Industries launched its first exclusive brand outlet in Ayodhya and also plans to launch similar outlets pan-India. It would continue to focus on increasing its reach and range at the retail level to grow further. The dollar has managed to strike the right balance between employees’ safety and efficiency.

Despite limitations, the company has overcome hurdles and managed to maintain the demand-supply ratio. With a revamped brand identity, India’s leading organisation in hosiery and knitwear strengthened its digital and e-commerce presence.

Dollar focused on a 360-degree communication strategy and also created a lot of buzz with the launch of its new Bigboss, Missy, and Ultra TVCs.
