Reliance Retail is embarking on several new initiatives aimed at showcasing authentic handcrafted products and promoting the rich Indian art forms globally.

The initiatives are designed to help revive various traditional Indian art and craft forms, provide a sustainable livelihood for hundreds and thousands of artisans and craftsmen in the ecosystem, and present a new platform to take the timeless Indian crafts to consumers across the world.

The program is being spearheaded by Reliance Retail’s handicrafts brand Swadesh, which envisages an artisan-only dedicated store format for Handcrafted products from across the country.

The first Swadesh store is expected to open in the second half of the current year and will house a wide range of products including handmade textiles, handicrafts, agriculture products, and other artisanal merchandise sourced directly from artisans.

Swadesh will also build a global marketplace to connect Indian artisans and sellers of authentic handmade products to consumers across the world.

Swadesh aims to present India to the world through the lens of its rich arts, handicrafts, and handlooms.

Reliance Retail has been actively involved in engaging with and patronizing artisans all over India to source authentic, handcrafted products thereby promoting the rich Indian heritage and sustaining the livelihoods of artisans.

This endeavor has only become more sharply focused with the conceptualization of a new Swadesh platform under the lifestyle and fashion segment.

One of the largest footwear manufacturers in India, Walkaroo International is aiming for Rs 2,300 crore in revenue in the coming years.

In 2022, the company’s revenues grew by 20 percent to Rs 1,850 crore.

The growth was achieved despite the closure of many brands’ units and stores due to the pandemic.

Wallaroo also plans to set up a new production plant in Rajasthan with an investment of Rs 75 crore.

The plant will produce over one lakh pairs per day with an initial capacity being 60,000 pairs a day, says V Noushad, Managing Director.

Currently, the company has 12 units across the country.

It plans to set up a unit in Africa soon besides expanding its plant in Bangladesh, adds Noushad.

Reliance Industries is developing Jio World plaza in Mumbai, a ritzy mall to lure India’s uber-rich citizens to buy expensive bags and shoes.

Spread across four floors, the mall will be developed inside the Jio World Trade Centre. It will have marble floors and a golden guardrail and house around 30 brands including LVMH's Louis Vuitton, Tiffany, and Dior.

Also present will be LVMH rival Kering's Gucci, Balenciaga, and Bottega Veneta, along with Versace, Richemont's Cartier, and Hermes.

The Mumbai mall is Reliance’s first attempt to bring non-partner, high-wattage luxury brands together with existing partners for local sales like Tiffany and Bottega Veneta.

22 April 2022, Mumbai:

Campus Activewear plans to launch an IPO on April 26 to sell up to 4.79 crore shares by its existing shareholders and promoters.

The company is owned up to 80 lakh shares by Hari Krishna Agarwal, up to 45 lakh shares by Nikhil Aggarwal, 2.91 crore shares by TPG Growth III, 60.5 lakh shares by QRG Enterprises, 1 lakh equity shares by Rajiv Goel, and 2 lakh shares by Rajesh Kumar Gupta.

The company will finalize the allotment of these shares on May 4, and initiate refunds or unblocking of funds from the ASBA account on May 5.

The new brick-and-mortar store of fashion and lifestyle brand Nicobar in Bengaluru will house its selection of men’s and women’s wear as well as its accessories and home décor lines.

The store launched the brand’s latest gold jewelry collection of talismans, earnings, and pendants. The jewelry items feature seed pods, flower buds, and spices.

The store also launched the brand’s apparel collection of pink blossom-inspired shirts and loose separates.

Jutti specialist Fizzy Goblet has expanded into fusion style heels and flats by launching a new subsidiary brand Fizzlet in collaboration with Bollywood celebrity Kareena Kapoor Khan.

The brand was launched as an easy, effortless, everyday footwear range on the e-commerce website.

Three years after setting up a fully-owned subsidiary in India, sports apparel manufacturer, Under Armor has launched its distributor model in the country.

The Baltimore-based company has appointed a company launched by Tushar Goculdas, Underdog Athletics as its local distributor and master franchisee.

Underdog Athletics was launched in April 2021 to prepare for the takeover.

Off late, Under Armour has been expanding its distribution network across the world including countries in the Southeast Asian region, South Africa and Japan.

The collection blends Tiger Marron’s leather craftsmanship with Nitya Arora’s intricate jewelry designs.

It features bags for both day and night.
